Accidental Mindfulness
Breathe…
And again. In… and… out. Good.
Feels good. To just let it out.
Relax.
Loosen your shoulders, give ’em a shrug and a wiggle.
Wiggle. Funny word that. Wiggle.
Wiggle your toes. If you can, take off your shoes and socks and let your feet rest firmly on the ground.
In a few seconds, close your eyes and feel the sensations in your feet (shoeless or not). Just become aware of how they feel. Notice.
Nothing more, no pressure to achieve anything.
Go on, try it now. I’ll wait for you.
Interesting, isn’t it?
Some people feel heat, some a coolness. Some feel a tingling sensation, some a throbbing. Maybe a combination.
There is no right or wrong, just being aware.
Breathe. That’s good. Relax.
Now feel the sensation of your hands as well as your feet. Gently expand your field of awareness. It’s your body; there is no getting it wrong.
Congratulations. You’ve just practised mindfulness.
